Essential Reading for Educators.
By Susan Jakes. Former student. Senior Fellow at the Asia Society’s Center on U.S.-China Relations.

At some point during the years I was her student, a little over two decades ago, I remember thinking it was a shame that more students in the country didn’t have a chance to have Maxine McClintock as their high school teacher. So it was with pleasure and relief that I found so many of the qualities with which she shaped my growth as a thinker—her erudition, her curiosity, her voracious intellect, her uncanny powers of empathy, her unstinting dedication to the project education—alive and available to students of all ages on the pages of this book.
